Really love it here. The park is well set up and maintained. The camping sites are hit and miss like any camp ground so you have to do your research. Pro-tip: Use Google maps street view to take a look. The whole thing has been photographed.
The beach is clean and has a huge amount of seating in shade. The sand is regularly turned. The facilities are all modern and shockingly well kept. Warm showers, no bad smells and plenty of stalls.
Staff is friendly and helpful, there is a small store where you can pick up any essentials. Far enough from the city to get a great view of the stars at night. Rangers pass by regularly and find any trouble makers who are ruining it for others.
I've been here four times now and I've never had a bad experience.
I have been visiting Fitzroy Provincial Park for years and love it. It's close to the city, well managed and has great sites and activities. Availability is usually pretty good compared to other nearby provincial parks. The beach is really nice and has charcoal bbqs, a great playground and volleyball courts. The campgrounds offer all sorts of sites, most with good privacy, some sun and shade. Washrooms are modern and clean.
Very nice park. We were at site 279 which was deep enough for our trailer, two tents, our tow vehicle and a second vehicle. The park is clean and seems to be well maintained. The beach in this section has a huge sandy area and a decent swimming area though it's more wading than swimming given how shallow it is. If you really want a swim head to the day use area.
This is a great park close to Ottawa. Whether you are a local or a tourist, during the summer months Fitzroy Provincial Park should be on your list of things to do.
I've been coming here since I was a kid, and still have yet to be disappointed. Great cost value for return. Will come again, do recommend.
Great park in proximity to the city. We come to this campground every year. There’s lots to do for everyone. They have a great beach (there’s also a second smaller one) and a boat launch. You can rent canoes and kayaks. There are also a couple of decent paths to walk. The campground is fairly large so also great for walking around. There is a great selection of lots ranging in sizes, privacy, and location (woodsy, by either rivers - the Ottawa or the carp rivers). We prefer the lots by the Carp river since they are quite huge. Book early for the best lots though. The latrines can get a bit gross but this is mostly due to the human factor i.e. gross people leave toilet paper all over the floor and toilet. The comfort stations are extremely clean. In fact the park employees are quite busy going around cleaning the park on a continuous basis. The park store has a good selection of items in case of a pinch and has great opening hours. We enjoy coming back year after year.
