Located right in Phoenix and it's amazing! Climb up to the hole in the rock - it's an easy hike. There is a lake where people were fishing and small, stone buildings to sit and have lunch in. I thoroughly enjoyed my morning here! Nice trail... water and bathroom accessible and it’s not far from hole in the rock which is a great tourist attraction. I came at 7 am and there were 10 other tourists! Highly recommended. Plenty to see and it's all free! It's now added to our list for our annual trip to AZ! Warning: bring water :)
I love this park! There's so much to explore.
A word of caution- do not try to park at the Papago Zoo parking if you want to avoid traffic and limited spaces. A great hidden parking lot that leads directly to the back side of the Papago Park is the West Buttes lot. From this lot, you can take the in and out Eliot trail (takes about 30 minutes (?)) or you can do the 5k loop.
The 5k loop took me a little over an hour the last time I went. It was very relaxing and in certain places, the trail branches off so you can do some off-road exploring. The loop does get a bit confusing close to the golf course. Make sure when you see the golf course parking lot instead of walking into the lot, just cross the street and the trail will continue.
Another thing I like about this trail is that there's workout equipment. The monkey bars are also taped, making them easier to grip.
Very good area.
Beautiful. Serene. Nature. Are the words to describe this place. Would have loved if there was less crowd, but hey can't complain as am in that too. Must go during sunset, you can get an awesome view from up there. Wonderful.
Great place to hike even by yourself as there ate lots of people and traffic, nearby. Easy to moderate trails and easy parking off McDowell (if your lucky enough to get a spot there). Happy Trails...💙🌏🤸♀️ :D
This park is like a tropical paradise! Palms and water, just like a hidden oasis! When I came there were few people around but it added to the enchantment! I honestly love bringing my little ones here they love watching the baby ducklings waddle along with their families. It’s like going to a tropical island in your own backyard albeit in the middle of the desert!
