I have been shopping at Strictly RC for about 13 years. Jim, Mark, Slim, Jose, and countless others have been amazing help and have become my friends. Jim has NEVER steered me wrong. He’s always willing to work with you and any issue you may have pertaining to RC. Their layaway has allowed me to enjoy many different types of RC items. When you shop at Strictly, you’re not just another customer. You are more than that. They never turn you down. They are honest about everything. Their prices are always fair. They’ve even helped me find rare parts that I couldn’t locate online! Strictly RC is not just another hobby shop. It’s a place where you can rest and relax. It’s always a positive atmosphere. They cater to all ages young and old. We’re all young at heart when enjoying like minded hobbies!

I've found owner Jim to be very generous with his time, even when it's clear I'm not buying anything at the moment. The rest of the guys that work there are always willing to help and excited to talk anything RC. When my local track closed I bought a Traxxas TRX-4 Blazer from Strictly RC and I'm loving it! Looking forward to getting together at a crawl night at the shop or meeting up at the forest preserve.

On a quest to find the best hobby stores! First impression: pulling up to the front of the store in a small shopping center I found it tucked in between several small shops. A beauty salon to the left. The front of the store is very small. I proceeded inside and found a very small store indeed. And an even smaller repair area in the back. Quite a bit of clutter. Don't know how they can keep anything organized. The selection is good. Not the best I've seen and not the smallest either. The largest selection has been HobbyTown in Orland Park and the smallest selection would be Hobby World in Grayslake. Two guys were there when I showed up, both employees. Nice enough but not too friendly. Somewhat distant. I had to be very direct with them in order to get any sort of discussion. I like to find employees who are friendly and engaging. Who ask questions and find out your experience level. Who guide and point you into recommendations. That was not the case here. A little while later the owner Jim arrived. I tried to engage with him and got limited response. Again nice enough but distant. It's almost like they talk with each other and the customers are ghosts. I see they've gotten many good reviews. I suppose if you know what you want and you're an experienced hobbyist it's a decent shop. But if you're new to the Hobby you may not find them the most helpful. Oddly enough a customer walked in and we struck up a conversation. He seemed to be much more knowledgeable and friendly than the staff. He walked me around and showed me a variety of planes and cars he would recommend. That's what I expected from the guys working there. Final thoughts: will I return back to this hobby shop? Probably not. I suppose if I stopped in a couple dozen times and dropped a bunch of money they might get to know you a little better. But sometimes first impressions are the most important and lasting. Something to think about Strickly RC.
