GREAT service! Scott is the owner... he took his time with my kids (ages 11 & 14)... tested batteries, answered questions, & he treated them with great respect! He definitely has all of our future business!
I would give this place 10 stars if I could based solely on one person: Bill.
My 10 year old son was expressing an interest in getting an R.C. car, and although he has had many “low quality, R.C. toys” in the past, I thought it was time for him to get a higher quality, upgradable, repairable unit.
We knew virtually nothing about what brand to start with, style, electric vs. liquid fuel, etc. so naturally I turned to Google for direction.
Google/the internet of course left me feeling completely overwhelmed so I looked to the next best thing: the idiots that I surround myself with on a regular basis. So after getting the opinions of my friends I still didn’t know much. Fortunately Google did actually come through and directed me to The R/C Pro Shop.
To be honest, I didn’t even know that R/C hobbies were even “still a thing” and I kinda figured that guys that were into that sort of thing had given it up in the 90’s to focus their attention on full time gaming in their parents basement. Well, I now feel ashamed to have those preconceived notions.
My son and I help take care of the property of a widow that is unable physically to do the work herself. In the past I’ve explained to my son that we’re not doing this work for any money but if she offers then he can graciously accept it and keep it all. So we had a pretty big project on our hands to truck and spread 12 yards of wood chips in a playground area of this property. My son works like a mule, never complains, and can run a shove, rake, or wheel barrow with the best of them. He knows the importance of a job well done and knows the importance of helping others. I couldn’t be more proud. After the job was done, he did earn enough money to put himself in range of getting a decent R/C car. He had money saved that he had earned previously and I told him I’d cover the rest of the costs because of how proud I am of him.
Enter Bill.
After the wood chip job was done we drove over to the R/C Pro Shop. I’m sure I smelled like a barn and we were covered in a thick layer of dirt and wood chips plastered to our skin by sweat. We probably didn’t look like we were prepared to spend a dime or that we even had one to spend. The man on duty at the store, Bill, was excellent! He spent probably over an hour sharing his expertise with us without the slightest bit of condescension which can sometimes show up when an expert is talking to a novice. Not only that but he seemed genuinely happy to share his knowledge.
My son has difficulties that manifest themselves with verbal communication yet Bill
treated him with respect and patience. That kind of thing goes a long way with me. Bill also let at least two calls go to the answering machine while assisting us to give his full attention. As a parent of a child with these difficulties and growing up with family members that also have mental disabilities I’ve learned to spot pandering and condescension a mile off. Had I detected even the slightest amount we wouldn’t spend a dime there and I’d make it a hobby of mine to bad mouth the establishment. We learned a lot about the hobby and eventually settled on a “ready to run” Traxxas “Slash” kit and extra battery totaling in the neighborhood of $350. Not bad to get started into the hobby. My son is thrilled! This was just yesterday at the time of writing this review and although I typically wouldn’t leave such a lengthy review, I feel it important to try to adequately express my appreciation. I’m already doing research on what upgrades to do to the car and thanks to Bill, now have the information and direction to do so. I’m definitely planning on doing more business with R/C Pro-Shop in the future as we upgrade or need repair parts.
Bill was absolutely wrong about one thing though. He told my son that “in six months dad will want his own car.” I want one now!
Was impressed with the service they offered. I'm a beginner in the rc experience and recieved tips and helped me figure out what was wrong with my truck. I will be coming here for all my parts and with any questions.
I would not recommend this place at all. Went in there to pick up some parts and the person behind the counter was extremely rude. When I asked the price of the items, instead of telling me, he just points to the package and doesn't say a thing. Then I ask him a question about a truck I have and he wouldn't answer me. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else unless you like dealing with rude people. I don't.
Reply: No, he wasn't laughing nor playing with models. He was in the back when I came in and there was no one else in the store. He barely acknowledged me and indeed when I asked him the price, he didn't say anything, just pointed to the package. Also didn't respond to my question. I know what I experienced and it wasn't good. Btw, it was on a Sunday.
Best place for prices, service, and they provide extra insight and tips. Best place for rc cars and parts.
